“ I’m asking you to bear with me while I research my options” good luck with your research on options, reading between the lines it appears substack is not bending to pressure and is intransigent? A pox on their house. Is their an avenue, such as a subscriber online petition that could move them?

Well said, Ty!

Is there a place that has the complete list of signatories to Substackers Against Nazis?

Thank you. I was about to sign up as a paid subscriber but the Substack response to the letter gave me pause. I'll probably still sign up no matter what you do--but as an added incentive for changing platforms, I promise I'll sign up if you do!

Ty, I'm sure you've already been collecting alternate options , but in the off chance you haven't run into ButtonDown (https://buttondown.email) - give it a look. It's run by a thoughtful and experienced entrepreneur who's doing really great work, Justin Duke.

And last but not least - happy new year to you and yours!

Justin Duke makes millions selling snack food. Snack food causes obesity, so we can boycott his platform, too. There are lies and toxicity everywhere in America

I can't tell if this is sarcasm or you've got the wrong Justin Duke.

This guy I reference runs a newsletter platform, not ... sells snack food? Wtaf is going on here.

I for one surely hope you and others leave. That in itself is a statement. I for sure won’t stay for long.

Thanks for the update and the link to the other authors, I didn’t know that Margaret Atwood is on here! I hope you all don’t leave because I really enjoy all of your writings. But this is serious stuff and I am very glad that you all are addressing it.

Thank you and happy new year!

Trust you will make a good decision and thanks for updating on the issue. (And thanks also for that great Margaret Atwood quote.)

Let’s resume educating the owners of Substack. Hate speech isn’t speech; it’s a euphemism for violence. Where throughout history did hate speech ever add to a democracy?

Expand full comment

You might say hate speech led to the Civil Rights Act.

That’s similar to saying all wars lead to peace. But that’s getting there the hard way, in spite of barbarism.

Just read this aloud to my family in the car. Thanks for the update- was not reading enough this month to be aware. Listing our Ins and Outs for 2024...In: making a stand. Out: making money for Nazis

Nice choice of photo.

I am interested to know how many Nazis are on Substack. Two? Two hundred? Of course your outrage is understandable. This issue got me wondering how many people on Substack hate Blacks, gays, Asians, Jews, Arabs, Latinos...
