If you want to watch a much better movie than 'Crawdads' that shows off Daisy Edgar Jones' talents, may I suggest 'Fresh' which co-stars Sebastian Stan? The movie starts off with a meet-cute that could be straight out of a rom-com, but then about 30 minutes in makes a very sharp, very hard right turn with one of the best cinematic rug-pulls I have seen in a while. I will say no more rather than risk spoiling the fun. It quietly snuck onto Hulu and forever into my heart earlier this year.

Thanks for the heads-up to avoid "Persuasion." As I read all the hubbub after the trailer appeared, I had pretty much decided that I would probably hate it, but was curious just because it could be another tidbit to briefly satisfy my addiction to all things Jane. After all, I'm open-minded, and I actually enjoyed the recent 2020 take on "Emma" as the pretty confection that it was. But I don't think I could sit through something like this "Persuasion" that sounds like it so totally ruins every aspect of the book. (I agree it is her most mature and satisfying work, and I agree that the 1995 production sets the standard.). Advice taken, I'm heading out for a walk!

Well speaking of bad movies, I did go to Elvis. I knew I wouldn't like it, but i wanted to see it anyway. I think Bay Lurhaman is one of the worst directors to ever make major movies...ugh. Parts of this reminded me of Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox story ( a film I much know). Of course, Dewey Cox was going for laughs, and Elvis wasn't....however, it was interesting.

I’m also a David Straitharn fan—he shows up in a lot of movies, often in smallish unshowy parts, and he unfailingly makes the movies better.
