Macbeth was always my favorite of Shakespeare's plays. In high school it really stuck. One of my favorite uses of Shakespeare was in Strange Brew! I haven't thought of that film in YEARS!

Totally agree that Throne of Blood is the best film Macbeth ever. Those few seconds of Kurosawa's Birnham Wood coming to Dunsinane are still some of the most lyrically creepy moments in cinema, like, ever.

Agree that “The Last Duel” was severely underrated, for reasons I can’t quite fathom. Grim and, yes, gory (the duel, when it arrives, is something else), it’s a wonderful evocation of its medieval time period. The Rashomon structure works far better than I anticipated and the acting is first-rate. Comer’s portrayal of desperation and bravery in the face of stomach-wrenching misogyny is brilliant and Ty is right, Ben Affleck was a hoot. I wonder if the film’s length did it in (it would be depressing to think attention spans have grown that short) or if “historical “ films just aren’t in vogue any longer. Either way, it’s a shame a lot of viewers overlooked a good film.

Creeps in this petty pace, felt rushed almost, the pauses in my fave play bring shape to the delivery. And meaning. I'm still strutting (not very good at that) about my house repeating Ty's line, the dark existential prankishness of fate that you felt was injected there. Too much birdwatching? Bad trees? Help a poor player out here.
