I remember reading your earlier review, this looks like a wonderful movie. I don't mind at all that you "reuse" your earlier comments. At least you aren't changing your mind!
As far as reading your Zen writing. I'd be happy to, but without the toggling because I'm just not that much of a toggler (tend to forget...). I enjoy your writing. Thanks.
"a plot twist toward the end that makes you realize how thoroughly franchise-entertainment “canon” culture has subsumed originality and daring as the source of Hollywood storytelling values." - But the "canon"-stickler is the antagonist and the protagonist is the guy who does things his own way. Maybe even just thinking about this stuff makes you sad, but the movie is absolutely on the right side of this issue.
I can't wait to see Past Lives - your review has been really intriguing! I'm also looking forward to Oppenheimer in July.
On a personal note, I was able to chat with Paul Giamatti and Ken Burns at the presentation of the annual Ken Burns Award to Paul at a gala at Old Sturbridge Village. Wonderful evening - spectacular individuals.
I remember reading your original review, then seeing a trailer and thinking this is one to see. You've clinched it today.
