Bottoms wasn't being screened at all in Boston, last I checked. (I do have a contact for a screener--let me know if you still need one.) But I saw it at a critic's screening in NYC. My review is being held for the Boston release date, but I can tell you it's...SOMETHING. It will be very divisive, and even the critics at my screening were unsure what to make of it. If Barbie triggered right-wing men, BOTTOMS will blow their heads clean off their pathetic bodies.
Absolutely loved Past Lives. We probably wouldn’t have seen it without your recommendation, and it was one of the first films we’ve seen since returning to theaters. Everyone should see it. It’s that good.
Oklahoma Kid—great pick! I assumed before finally seeing it that it would be awful, some misbegotten B, but it has a snappy script with a great, offbeat character for Cagney. He has that fantastic scene in the saloon with Donald Crisp while the Land Grab goes on outside, where he explains why he has no lust for the grab, and his worldview seems pretty remarkable coming out of this guy in this movie made in that era.
Thanks, Ty! Looking forward to "Bottoms," which I missed at this year's Provincetown International Film Festival (too many choices!!). Rotten Tomatoes scores are through the roof, so I'm hopeful. Landmark Kendall has it opening this Thursday (8/31), when I'll be out of town. Hope it hangs in for a week!
Past Lives is a great rainy Friday night choice. It’s one of my favorite movies you have turned me on to.

And you liked GOLDA a helluva lot more than I did. Helen Mirren looked like she went through Seth Brundle's machine with somebody's Bubbie.

Shiva Baby was amazing! It was so drolly funny. I just need to decide if I can get thru the opening scene watching with my daughters :)
