I'm thrilled to learn about "After Love," which sounds right up my proverbial alley.

“After Love” sounds swell; will look for it. Plot put me in mind of the great Alec Guinness’s “The Captain’s Paradise,” where the captain has wives (also of very different appearance and temperament) in England and Gibraltar. A double feature?

I watched The Palm Beach Story not long back when it was on Criterion, and I absolutely loved it. The start-to-finish manic insanity of the film is near-incomparable. The first scene is like a mini-movie all by itself and I love that the movie never even tries to explain what the hell was going on there.

Even bottom drawer Sturges is better than 99% of Hollywood’s contemporary product.

Not that anyone asked…but I finally watched “Nobody.” What a great picture. Odenkirk is wonderful, as is Christopher Lloyd and Connie Nielsen. It’s like the first John Wick movie, but tighter. Odenkirk should act more.
