We've been enjoying the Criterion Channel's 80's Horror collection. Fans of 'Twin Peaks' especially would want to check out 'The Hidden' as it features Kyle MacLachlan as an eccentric FBI agent tracking a murderous alien with good taste in cars and music - four years before 'Peaks,' you can see glimpses of some of what he put into the character of Special Agent Dale Cooper. While not necessarily a "good" movie by the usual definitions, it is quirky fun and very 80's in style and feel, and you'll recognize just about everybody from something else they went on to do.

On your rec, I watched Catherine Called Birdy last night; what a treat. She’s made a perennial. Made me wish I had a little girl to share it with. My daughter was young when Drew Barrymore’s Cinderella movie came out, it reminds me of this one. Such great writing, directing, the actors, so much fun! What a relief after the medieval drudgery of Lord of Snores and Dragon Dust.
