Love this kind of festival coverage. Whetting the appetite. One note: I believe the Gamestop movie is coming out on Friday. Must have gotten bumped up in the schedule. Stonks!

These are great snapshots of coming attractions. I'm especially thrilled there will be a new Miyazaki film.

Thanks!!!

Waiting for you to see Perfect Days. Saw American Fiction today and agree it was very good. Saw Quiz Lady too...

I loved reading the novel “Erasure.” It is so wicked and delicious. Every author dreams of writing a savage satire like this. What a treat to anticipate the movie!

Remember when we met at TIFF and I told you that the word on the street was that AMERICAN FICTION would win the Audience Award? Well, it did! I didn't believe it would. I was so sure Taika Waititi's garbage movie NEXT GOAL WINS would take it. Chalk that up to my cynicism (and the audience's reactions to both films--NEXT GOAL's audience acted like Waititi was God, even though he acted like a coked-up stockbroker and repeatedly punched the shit out of the microphone during his introduction and broke it).

The Audience Award is a nice boost for a movie that's going to need it. And I wasn't surprised DICKS: THE MUSICAL won the Midnight Madness award. I was at that midnight world premiere and the audience went berserk for it. I almost feel bad for giving it **1/2.
