Bravo Ty! As usual, heartfelt and eloquently stated. I'm both amazed and grateful that you feel free to write whatever you wish here. I'm sure the digitized dinos will get along swell without you weighing in on them.

Beautifully said, Ty! I wish to have hope, but I have trepidation. Your essay has given me a glimmer of hope.

Beautifully written...you've captured all the emotions I feel...anger, frustration, disbelief, despair. I was 23 during Watergate...everyone saw the same truth. But with Faux News and other right-wing cable and social media platforms, the people we need to reach will not tune in. After the republicons' response to the slaughter in Uvalde and the decisions by judges appointed by Dorito, I don't hold much hope. And, a personal gripe, women still do not have equal rights.

I’m 73, so perhaps even more jaded by time, but will hold out a glimmer of hope but never far from hopeless. Definitely trending in the wrong direction, maybe Liz Cheney will strike a cord with the voters In Wyoming and they will return her to Congress? We need something honest to happen from that side of the aisle, those Republicans seem to be a dwindling. The midterms are likely to tell a sad story on our direction.

While certainly no consolation, more like misery loves company, I’m currently reading Ross Thomas’ The Fools in Town Are on Our Side, set in the south in the 60’s. By Ross view on things civic duty was just as bankrupt then. If Ross was still around, I hear him muttering “same old shit”. What shit? I refer you to the town Methuen Massachusetts, their civic leadership, former police chief and Union..

Hang in there, all.

Bless you TY. Have a well deserved vacation with your family. I would vote for you if you ran for public office. We know your heart is in the right place. We need more ethics, empathy and compassion in government. If you don't want to run for office, consider writing their speeches.

Agreed on all counts, and thank you another wonderful thought piece. The hearing last night was riveting. That said...I felt major gratification (finally) but, as they say, “If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, did it make a sound?” Fox News refused to air the hearing, and they refuted it all night long to their Trump-addicted viewers. I can't figure out how any justice will be done as long as "the will of the people" includes so many who are lied to, and believe it unconditionally.

I agreed with every word. I being one who also watched the Watergate hearings from beginning to end. I being one who is terrified that the country I love (for the most part) will not be the country I know when I pass on, leaving a country I do not want my grandchildren to live in. Thank you for your summary and perspective, which I have forwarded to many people.

All so true Ty, thank you for putting so many feelings into words. Last night watching the video of the riot I felt so much just blood chilling fear, just like when I watched it live.
