Thanks, I'm so excited about to check out some of these films.

As someone who loves philosophical science fiction, I really enjoyed Animalia. It felt sort of like 2001 or Knight of Cups except made by a filmmaker who actually understands and likes people, despite our flaws. Who understands that mysticism is grounded in compassionate acceptance of what is, not relentless abstraction. Who accomplishes her work with restraint and close observation, rather than Grand Gestures. And who can make practical effects and the performance of animals uncanny, while not shying away from a bit of CGI when it serves the story.

Also, Oumaima Barid gives a really strong performance, code-shifting through Arabic, French and Berber.
