A great review! I hope it will tempt viewers who haven’t experienced as yet the clever writing and plotting, wonderful acting, and the general WTH atmospherics. And the “best” villain in years, Ms. Cobel, a cross between Nurse Ratched and Mommie Dearest—and more frightening than either. I love this show, but they’d better not do anything dire to those baby goats!
I read Dana Stevens' book after your review. The depth and breadth of research she did on Keaton, the era, and the other arts during that period is incredible. I wish I lived closer and could see the film on the big screen at the Coolidge and meet you and the author! Please tell her how much I enjoyed her book.
Gee gad. Severance was my favorite entertainment experience of the year. The description sounded so snoresville... but then, it all be came clear. The entire story - and each character - opened like a lotus. Each one had an essense- undiminished- but newborn, like those lambs. I watched one per week- and then would rewatch. The Milchek effect caused us to rewatch the Defiant Jazz Dance Experience multiple times. Happy savor this Hitchcock, Serling, and Shirley Jackson feeling.

I am intrigued, and somewhat scared to take this any further, but a seed for thought has been planted.
