Thanks for this Ty. I will be settling in to watch this soon. I read the book that Newman wrote (Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good with A.E.Hotchner) about the founding of Newman's Own. And my daughter worked as a counselor at the Hole-In-The-Wall Gang camp in CT for years. I am not worried about the facts changing my opinion of him. I know he wasn't perfect. I look forward to learning more about Woodward and the reality of their life together. Great review.

I have always greatly admired Joanne Woodward. I look forward to learning more about her. If you'd like to dig deeper into Newman, you might try the podcast "Hollywood-ography." The hosts devote their latest season to him. They watch every film (!) then discuss not only the film but the great tidbits one can find in biographies and by doing research. (For example, their review of the production notes from Warner on "The Silver Chalice"--Newman's forgettable film debut--offers context for why the film was such a disaster.)

It's fun to follow along film by film. I did it last year when Natalie Wood was their subject.

Wow that is a very deep dive, but I am intrigued… Loved that clip! They certainly were Hollywood stars, but I don’t associate them with Hollywood, particularly Woodward. And she may “not know a thing about grace “, but she sure had it bad.

A Kiss Before Dying was the first film I saw Joanne Woodward in...taut thriller, very daring at the time. Robert Wagner was diabolically good. I also enjoyed her in The Long Hot Summer and From the Terrace. Simply put: I adore Paul Newman! We are so lucky to be able to see them together in so many films. I look forward to watching the documentary, but do find it odd that Zoe Kazan never watched one of Joanne Woodward's films.
