Very helpful--especially as I intend to venture down a cinematic rabbit hole over the holidays. Thanks for "curating choice."

Actually, "The Banshees of Inisherin" was shot in the Aran Islands, off the western coast of Ireland, and not on the Isle of Man, off the western coast of England. But if you're implying that this remarkable film can be enjoyed by all Man-kind, then I'd agree!

Great help, quite by accident, Banshees was on last night on HBO. Still parsing through it all. Ty, going through the dashboard, searched for a long review of yours on this. Apologies if it is staring me squarely in the face. Sorta like that donkey.

I’ve got 100’s of books on my kindle to read. I’m in no hurry to get to new releases, movies or books. I did make an exception for Cormac’s latest 2, and Connelly’s recent Harry Bosch, which sadly may be the end of a great run.

I would think a better deal for Banshees would be to sign up for a month of HBOMax for $14.99 and watch Banshees and a bunch of other great movies!

I rushed to see “The Banshees of Inisherin” in a theater just to send the message that I would go to the movies more often if they made more films like this, and I'm sure the studio heads took notice. :) Also, I wonder which method means more money going to the creators. (Silly thought, I suppose.)

Thanks for the tips. Any idea when "Aftersun" will be available on demand or streaming? I'm dying to see it, but I can't find it anywhere.

Ty,

Some films, if you miss them during their in movie -theater short appearance, never do make it to a DVD release stage.

Here’s an example:

I have tried to find at my Public Libraries the 2020 film “Mank” about the writing/co-writing of the film “Citizen Kane”.

It played in some movie theaters, and I believe it also was made available for short period on Netflix ‘s tv-channel, but as far as I can tell it was never available as a DVD (not even for $20 or even for $39).

How is this for contrast. I watched Tar, then Armageddon Time. Kate was out of this world, especially with the monologues.

Nope wasn't at all funny, nor was it a Western, nor was there a "black lens." It was like a student film that had some good ideas that did not belong all in the same movie. We watched the whole thing (regrettably) in the hopes that something very clever would come together in the end, which never happened. Nope was a disappointing step backwards for Peale.
