I didn't care for this film when I saw it as part of virtual Sundance. Since then, I've read "Vanishing Half." Ty, based on your review, I may give it another try. I did LOVE the cinematography. I had a wonderful moment with Tessa Thompson at Sundance. After the first screening of "Dear White People" I found her alone in the bathroom and crying. I asked her if she was ok. She said, "My dad got married this week and life was just overwhelming, but in all good ways." She seemed like a real person with real emotions. Happy to see her doing so well.
