You are on one hell of a roll. I don't think I could have conceived of any scenario where I was looking forward to screening 'If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium.' And yet, here I am. For the cameos, for Ian McShane, and mostly-full disclosure-for Suzanne Pleshette.
First of all, I'm totally stealing "gently cocktailed." My Dad took me to see this when I was eight -- it was a Saturday afternoon, hot as hell, we were home by ourselves and the Alpine Theater was air-conditioned. I loved everything except the shot of the vaccine needle going into an arm (and yes -- nobody balked at the vaccine!). And I remember in the scene where Suzanne Pleshette wakes up with Ian McShane my Dad blurted to me, out of nowhere, "They had a sleepover!" Which is what I thought they had, so I didn't know why he was explaining it to me. And yes, oh my God, Suzanne -- I am so in love with this woman, in everything, and still don't know why the hell Rod chose Tippi in THE BIRDS. This movie and ROME ADVENTURE should be shown as a guilty-pleasure double feature of Suzi in Europe!
I remember this movie and something about toilet paper. Of course, I was a total Suzanne Pleshette fangirl. Also, Michael Constantiine is best remembered as the Principal (Seymour Kaufman)in "Room 222" (okay, maybe only by me!). You have inspired me once again. . . .
I loved “If it’s Tuesday it must be Belgium”. It used to play regularly on channel 56. As a teenager it seemed so cool and funny and beautiful. Thanks for the nostalgia trip. Will have to take a look.
I remember seeing this as a teenager...Mildred Natwick :) I also love the 1962 film of the same ilk, Rome Adventure with Suzanne Pleshette, Troy Donahue, Angie Dickinson, Rossano Brazzi, Al Hirt, and Rome! Suzanne and Troy had an affair during this film and married briefly. Sparks fly!
My mother loved If It's Tuesday, partly because she lived in Europe during the 50s and was baffled by the whole "7 countries in 8 days" mania that started up shortly after she returned to the States. And we all loved Suzanne Pleshette—how can one not?
If it's Tuesday this must be Belgium. I was in total love with Ian McShane. Suzanne is so sexy & it doesn't end with a typical Hollywood ending. Thanks for bringing to our attention. Once again good work!

Don't forget Academy Award Best Actor winner Murray Abraham in the first screen shot! Jim O

Love the Nicholas Brothers in all their films, but especially with Cab Calloway in Stormy Weather.
