Private Idaho for me; I’ll never stop waiting for the reunion 😢

It's a tough decision since I love Keanu Reeves, but I think John Wick might be my favorite role of his. Some of my other favorites include Ted, Neo, Johnny Utah, and Kevin Lomax.

1. Parenthood

2. Bill & Ted

….and then somewhere below that is his mis-cast character in the Devils Advocate. He really didn’t belong in that role (if anyone could have) but his presence makes the whole thing that much more over the top and absurd, ie hilarious

Freaked. Because: a) he's uncredited; b) he's in a dog suit; and c) Keanu's in a dog suit.

A watchable time-travel film I've missed! Goodness.

It's true that I own all three John Wick films in 4K and have a standing appointment to watch them over three nights just before the next installment is released.

But my favorite Keanu role, in part because he's resposible for its cinematic existence, is as a rotoscoped Bob Arctor in A Scanner Darkly, Richard Linklater's adaptation of Philip K. Dick's deeply autobiographical sci-fi novel (only in the world of Phil Dick is that not an oxymoron).

Arctor is a near-future (/ thinly disguised 1970) narcotics agent so deeply undercover that he is assigned to spy on himself, with predictable consequences for his mental health given that he has to take the new and dangerous drug he is professionally commited to eradicating. Bonus: Robert Downey Jr. as his frenemy, in my favorite book-to-screen character translation of all time.

The official trailer for "The Lake House" (2006) deserves it's own recognition for great mini-short film. It's beautiful; it perfectly captures and embodies the feeling of "bittersweet." The music from Keane, "Somewhere Only We Know" is so fitting, and so lovely. Wish trailers would get their own awards ceremony. Sometimes the trailers are better than the movies! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ5lPbssHS8

But to answer your question, a Keanu Reeves performance that is probably not well known but is very well done, and so charming, is his portrayal of an ideal romantic interest in "Something’s Gotta Give" (2003): https://moviewise.wordpress.com/2012/12/23/somethings-gotta-give/

((always late to Ty Burr's parties, sorry)) Love Keanu Reeves in anything. Favorite Keanu Reeves movie: The Replacements (2000). Why? Because I'm a fan of good or fun sports movies (not always the same thing), because it has lots of 'oh I know that actor' moments, and because, oh my, ***Gene Hackman & Keanu Reeves together***.
