I really loved this movie when I saw it at TIFF. Now that its making the promotional circuit I'm thinking of it more often and I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I missed Paul Giamatti on the big screen and he's so good in this. Thanks for sharing this interview, Ty.

As someone who developed my taste cinematically in the ‘70s I’m naturally drawn to this movie. I get a nostalgic thrill watching films from the ‘70s. There are so many great films from that era that fall under the radar fifty some years later. (Thinking of “The Last Detail” right now. It’s directly by Hal Ashby - a director who Odie Henderson name-checked in his review of “The Holdovers.” )

I think “The Holdovers” is a great title too. It piques your curiosity and then, when you see the preview you think, “Oh, OK, this is a holiday movie. It’s kind of a modern version of poor young Ebeneezer not having a home to return to at Christmas.” That motivates me even more to see the movie - and I’m sure it pushes other people’s buttons too.

I definitely intend to check out “Downsizing.” Sorry that I missed the interview with Payne live. I’m glad that you can reported out on it, Ty.
