Well....I loved Miller's Crossing...however, I remember when Bringing Out the Dead was released. I was SO glad there was a new Scorsese film and I was SO dissapointed with it. Unlike many of his films, which I've watched multiple times, I've never seen that one again. I'd throw in the Altman film "Cookie's Fortune" which isn't as celebrated as many of his. And the Coen Brothers A Serious Man. I don't know if Robert Duvall even directed anything else, so I don't know if it belongs on this list, but The Apostle is one of the great, great films that not many have seen.

One of my favorite darkly smiling movies is “Smile”…. Great cast and perspective on California/America. Felton and Dern are at their best. Where can this be streamed?
