"Vampire's Kiss" was a great film! Back in the day, we had a discussion about why it never got better reviews and (I think) you said something along the lines of many film critics not "getting" it, which totally rings true. I was also happy to discover that it was penned by the same genius who brought us "After Hours," one of my favorite movies of all time.

Could not agree more about Vampire’s Kiss. I saw it when I was young and didn’t know what to make of it but I thought it was brillIant. I have not thought much more of it since. After reading your review I am interested to go back as an adult and look at it through more mature eyes. It really is Cage at his deranged finest. He probably should receive a lifetime achievement award just for being so unique.

I saw Vampire’s Kiss, maybe third-run, at the same Hollywood Blvd. grind house (the World, for those who knew the area) I saw Dolomite. Going in knowing only that Nic Cage played a vampire, I was very happily surprised. I haven’t seen it since, though I may have a DVD around here somewhere. You’ve inspired a second look.
