I was baffled by the Best Film choice, as I'd never heard of "Return to Seoul." But I look forward to learning more about it--I'm always excited about new films coming out of South Korea.
This is fantastic timing. Return to Seoul is playing this weekend at the MOMA and I was looking at their listings wondering what this film was and whether it was worth checking out. Now that’s my Saturday evening sorted out!
Gotta say: gob-smacked by the song for RRR - I suffer through about 80 or 90 songs this time every year preparing for the Academy nominations - as a rule, songs are end-credit afterthoughts, promoted by the pop star of the month, written with rhyming dictionaries, four chords and a bad drum machine....they are rarely as good as this.
"Contentious" discussions during a day-long hybrid in-person/Zoom meeting --- Oy! It's a dirty business, but SOMEone has to do it. That's for the insight on the process, Ty.
Winter is cruel. Your annual list is a hot toddy. Simplistic, I know. But looking forward to it. Soon?
“…and thoroughly unrecognizable as the Penguin in “The Batman,” but we had to draw the line somewhere.” Thanks! I needed a good laugh😀

Great work! Looking forward to seeing Return to Seoul when it's out, and catch up on a few other things noted.
Sarah Polley had a little fun on twitter enjoying the tie, which was nice to see.
