Ty, that is one of the strangest, funniest, and yet worthiest menu of pairings of any kind I've seen in years!

As a Watertown native, I feel compelled to remind all you Burrwatchers that while Mount Auburn Cemetery's entrance is in Cambridge, 93% of the cemetery's land lies within the Watertown border. So, the vast majority of the birds Ty spotted this past weekend were rough-and-tumble, salt-of-the-earth East Watertown birds whose grandbirdparents and great-grandbirdparents probably worked at the Hood Rubber factory and NOT blue-blooded Yankee West Cambridge birds whose forefeathers flew over on the Mayflower.

Also, holy smokes, have the birders been all over MAC the past couple of days and with a very impressive variety seen: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L207391/cur

Tagging on to Joel's comment, the only other really memorable pairing I can think of that was equally as quirky and utterly enjoyable as this one for birds and movies was a Paso Robles winery that paired their wines with elegant cookie recipes ... think, Cabernet and deep chocolate biscuits instead of dry crackers and cheese. Awesome post - thank you!

I KNOW your post was about seeing birds, but I don't know nothin' about birds, but I've seen most (or all?) of those movies...I liked Run Lola Run, very much, though it's to me...a movie about making movies....however, I absolutely couldn't stand La La La La La La Land....it went onto my list of my least favorite movies of all time. Others are Moulin Rouge, Mr Holland's Opus and Whiplash....hmmm.....mostly movies about music. I could come up with more.

Reminds me of a fun exercise suggested by my college professor of Gothic Film, which is to try and find all references to birds in Psycho. From a swooping camera to names to the critical scene where Marion and Norman sit and talk, there's quite a lot of them!

That black and white warbler is astonishing! Who would think that black and white could rival all of those multi-colored beauties? (A movie lover, of course!)

Your first connection set off a riff on butler movies - Your choice, The Fallen Idol - dignity betrayed. Remains of the Day - dignity as self-deception. My Man Godfrey, didactic dignity. If you Could Only Cook - romantic dignity. The Servant - malevolent dignity (quickly abandoned). Lee Daniel's The Butler - dignity in the face of racism. And (not a movie but it was a great adapted series) Jeeves and Wooster - dignity as genius.

Really fabulous pairings! Wonder what triggered your inspiration?
