Thank you Ty for this great celebration of Audrey Hepburn. One of my favorite of her films is Two for the Road, too oven overlooked, but as you say, is still worth a look at ANY time. As I age my appreciation of it grows. By the way, the film's theme song by Henry Mancini is one of the best ever written -- Mancini said it was his own favorite. I can't hold back the tears when I hear it. Here is a beautiful, heart wrenching version by George Shearing, have a listen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3TlShc26UY

Happy Birthday to Audrey. Glad to hear she is timeless with today's students. I love Charade. She and Cary Grant were a perfect pairing.

Thanks for this interesting look-back at this luminous lady's career. I'm surprised, though, that there's no mention of "The Nun's Story." It is my first reference point for Hepburn, being as I am a formerly devout Catholic child. I barely remember the film but Wikipedia just refreshed my memory. It was a pretty big hit at the time and scores well on Rotten Tomatoes. As a no-longer devout Catholic, I'm not endorsing the movie, but I am curious what Ty Burr thinks. (My memory is that, while the Church said the movie was OK, the general feeling in my all-pervasive Catholic environment was that it wasn't really OK since the protagonist left the convent in the end.)
