Does Bergman Island not qualify for the best foreign noms because it’s mostly in English? I can imagine the academy snubbing it anyway, but was curious. Anyway, it’s a shame, it was one of my favorite movies of the year.
Way more surprised that Parallel Mothers (also excellent) didn’t get a nomination.
Also, it’s hardly surprising but would it have killed them to throw The Velvet Underground a bone?
Feel fortunate to have seen most of these films in theaters, except Power of the Dog, which I chose not to...and regret. Wonderful western vistas, deserving of a big screen. Surprised to see that French Dispatch did not get any noms, even though I did not like it...but it is Wes Anderson! I was lucky to see the Eyes of Tammy Faye and have to say Jessica Chastain is quite deserving. Looking forward to watching Flee available on Hulu! Thanks Ty.
I thought The Beatles: Get Back might score a Best Doc nomination...but is it maybe considered a TV series?
Which brings me to my second point, will there come a time in the future when the Emmys & Oscars will just merge? Because we're fast getting to the point where "What IS a TV show? What IS a motion picture??"
