Absolutely a great review Ty, although I have no plan to watch it, you got me thinking about Elvis in the 50âs and my childhood.
â recorded at Sam Phillipsâ Sun Records in Memphis from 1953 to 1955 are the sound of something breaking joyously free in the American soul, something kept down in the dark, repressed, for decades, centuries even, and finally somehow soaring with a lightness and authorityâ youâve got that perfectly expressed.
Rock was not part of our house in the 50âs, some soul Ella, Ray Charles, Nat, Satchmo and you can include Frank was there but limited, with my parents leaning towards Perry, Dinah and Montovani.
But Elvis going into the army in March â58 seemed to grab my attention maybe because I turned 9 that month? I went to an older kidâs house who those Sun Records 45âs and was suddenly aware there was more out there.
As said, probably wonât see it but Iâm a bit intrigued, also like to see TomHanks play someone you can dislike. Again, great job, got to get to Jan6 hearingsâŚstay well!
You actually got me interested in watching a) a biopic (generally my least favorite flavor), and, b) a Baz Luhrmann flick (also, not exactly my favorite flavor). Also: beautifully wrought piece-
I want to see this movie, but I won't be surprised if I don't like it...and (I'm not, by the way blaming you) but many of thoughts about what Elvis accomplished seem to forget (yeah, I just read a bit about him above) Little Richard and others.

All right, dammit: I'll go see it.

Today I was happy to share this with him.
Always appreciate your writing. Rarely tell you. Thanks
